lüftlmalerei
commissioned work
Commissioned by the ÖBB, I painted a 26-meter-long passenger railcar to be used for „Tunnel Reality Trainings“ at the Landesfeuerwehrschule Tirol. The training involves simulating an emergency scenario where a train catches fire in a tunnel and needs to be evacuated. Drawing inspiration from the old craft of „Lüftlmalerei,“ a form of painting commonly seen on buildings in Austria and Bavaria depicting scenes from the Bible or patron saints, I choosed to depict Saint Florian, the patron saint of firefighters, on one side, and Saint Barbara, the patron saint of miners, on the other side. 2018
